Physical nexus hazard score
nexus_hazard · v1.0.0
Combines water stress and tree-cover loss into a transparent dimensionless physical-hazard indicator, with an explicit bonus when both pressures are elevated.
Inputs
- Aqueduct baseline water-stress category.
- Hansen tree-cover-loss hectares.
- Water and land saturation values, compounding threshold, bonus and severity bounds from the pinned methodology pack.
Calculation
Water stress is normalised by the pack's water saturation value and land loss by its hectares saturation value; both components are clamped to 0–1. The base score is the larger component. When both components meet the compounding threshold, the pack's bonus is added and the result is clamped to 1.
Default pack parameters use water saturation 4.0, land saturation 500 hectares, a 0.5 compounding threshold and a 0.25 compounding bonus. Signed outputs identify the actual pack values used.
Outputs
- water and land components;
- compounding indicator;
- composite score from 0 to 1 and severity band;
- gross and attributed results where attribution evidence exists;
- signed manifest and pack reference.
Limitations
The score is a physical-hazard screening index. It is not monetary value at risk, expected loss, probability of default or causal attribution. Financial translation occurs only in separately versioned lender methods. Input limitations propagate into the composite.
