Aqueduct SSP water-stress projections

Provides forward-looking Aqueduct water-stress categories for three SSP pathways across the 2030, 2050 and 2080 horizons.

Inputs

• Asset latitude and longitude.
• Scenarios SSP1-2.6, SSP2-4.5 and SSP5-8.5.
• Horizon years 2030, 2050 and 2080.
• WRI Aqueduct annual projected bws_cat values.

Calculation

The method requests each of the nine scenario–horizon cells independently. Valid numeric scores and labels are retained; unavailable or invalid cells remain explicit data gaps rather than being imputed by this method.

Outputs

• scenario identifier and horizon year;
• projected water-stress category and label when available;
• model version and assessment time;
• signed evidence reference used by scenario and lender workflows.

Limitations

Scenario values are conditional projections, not forecasts or probabilities. They describe plausible pathway outcomes at the source model's spatial resolution. They do not incorporate asset-specific adaptation, water rights, infrastructure or production plans unless those are modelled separately.
