Calculates provisional afforestation, reforestation or mine-rehabilitation accrual from observed vegetation recovery and project age.

Inputs

• concession area, vintage year and project start year;
• signed baseline NDVI and current quality-controlled NDVI observations;
• registered annual growth factor and permanence buffer;
• ground-truth indicators and jurisdiction context for integrity scoring.

Calculation

Positive NDVI recovery is converted into a bounded recovered-area fraction. Gross tonnes are recovered hectares multiplied by the registered annual growth factor and a five-year establishment ramp. Net provisional credits apply a 15% permanence buffer.

Outputs

• recovered fraction and hectares;
• gross and net provisional tonnes CO₂e;
• ramp factor, observation count and integrity components;
• signed vintage evidence.

Limitations

NDVI recovery is a biomass-growth proxy and can be affected by seasonality, moisture and non-project vegetation. The method does not replace plot measurement, leakage assessment, additionality demonstration, uncertainty treatment or independent registry verification.
